From Delhi to Manali – One Ride, One Perfect Escape

blog

Sometimes, the best plans are the ones you don’t overthink. That’s how our last-minute trip from Delhi to Manali happened — one message, a few packed bags, and a comfortable ride that made the journey feel like part of the vacation.

If you’re stuck in city chaos and need a break that actually feels like a break, Manali is still one of the best options out there. And if you get the travel right, the trip can start feeling special before you even arrive.

The Overnight Ride That Didn’t Feel Like a Struggle

We booked a tempo traveller with PTL Tourism and honestly, that was the smoothest part of the trip. No train delays, no bus crowd, no awkward leg space. Just a clean, spacious ride with reclining seats, calm music, and that rare travel vibe where you don’t constantly check how many hours are left.

The route from Delhi to Manali takes about 12–13 hours by road. We left around 6 PM, grabbed some food on the way, and by the time we woke up properly — mountains had already started showing up.

There’s something about seeing the hills after a night drive that makes it feel like you’ve entered another world. You breathe deeper. You speak softer. Even silence sounds better.

Manali – Still Got That Magic

We reached Mall Road early morning — when the stalls are just opening, the locals are sipping chai, and the mountain air hits differently. No crowd, no noise, just soft sun and the smell of something being fried in ghee nearby.

After settling into our hotel, we didn’t rush into sightseeing. Manali doesn’t ask you to tick off boxes. You just walk, sit, eat, and exist — and somehow that’s enough.

Solang Valley: Quick Drive, Big View

By afternoon, we booked a local cab to Solang Valley. Around 12 km from the town, the drive itself feels like a postcard — pine trees, frozen corners, people throwing snow at each other.

Solang had a calm buzz going on. Some tourists were gearing up for paragliding, some just chilling with corn and chai. We didn’t do much. Just sat for a while, looked around, took a few photos, and reminded ourselves to do this more often.

Food, Mood, and the Manali Way

Back in town, we ended our day with hot momos, butter maggi, and a short walk near the Beas River. There’s something super grounding about mountain food. It’s simple, warm, and always hits the spot.

At night, Manali slows down. Shops close early, streets go quiet, and the cold wraps around everything. We grabbed blankets, ordered a late coffee, and sat around talking about everything except work.

Why This Trip Worked

This wasn’t a fancy itinerary or a luxury stay. What made it perfect was how easy it felt.

  • No overthinking

  • No drama

  • Just a smooth ride, a peaceful town, and good company

And in the end, that’s the whole point of escaping the city — to remember that life doesn’t always need a reason to feel good.
